Healthcare Software Development US
Healthcare software development means building custom digital systems, such as EHRs, patient portals, telemedicine platforms, and AI-driven clinical tools,…
HomeHealth TechWomen's Health & Fertility EMR
A women's health and fertility EMR is clinical software that tracks care along a timeline: a pregnancy by gestational age, a treatment cycle by stimulation day, a birth from plan to postpartum visit. It is used by OB/GYN practices, fertility and IVF clinics, and midwifery and birth-center teams. Woltrio designs and builds custom EMR systems, modules and integrations for these practices.
Obstetrics, fertility medicine and midwifery all organize care around dates that move: a due date, a cycle day, an expected birth. They need records that calculate, schedule and follow up against those dates.
OB/GYN charting centers on the prenatal flowsheet: weight, blood pressure, fundal height, fetal heart tones and labs at every visit, against a gestational age the system calculates from the last menstrual period or a first-trimester ultrasound and keeps once the due date is set. Ultrasound reports and images arrive via DICOM or HL7 interfaces. In the US, billing tracks the global obstetric package (CPT 59400, 59510), which covers antepartum care, delivery and postpartum care but not ultrasounds or extra high-risk visits. Gynecology adds procedure notes, pathology results and recall lists for abnormal screening follow-up.

A fertility record is organized by treatment cycle. Stimulation protocols, medication doses, monitoring ultrasounds, follicle counts and hormone levels are charted day by day, with the next instructions sent to the patient. Embryology and andrology lab records track oocytes, sperm samples, embryos and cryopreserved specimens with witnessed chain-of-custody steps. Partner and donor records stay linked but separate, and in the US donor eligibility follows FDA rules for reproductive tissue (21 CFR Part 1271). Consents, treatment packages and financing plans sit beside the cycle, and per-cycle data is structured for the annual CDC reporting US clinics must submit.

Midwifery care is continuous: the same small team follows a client from booking through labor and the postpartum weeks. The record needs shared prenatal notes, a birth plan the client can review and update, and risk screening that flags when a transfer or consult is needed. Home and birth-center births call for mobile charting that works offline in rooms and homes without signal, then syncs when connected. Labor and newborn notes are written in real time with timestamps, and postpartum and newborn follow-up visits are scheduled from the actual birth date.

Six building blocks that most practices in this group need. We scope each one to how your clinic actually works.
Gestational age, due dates and cycle days calculated once and shown everywhere. Visits, labs, scans and medication steps are scheduled relative to those dates, and the plan updates when a date is revised or a cycle is cancelled.
Prenatal flowsheets, stimulation monitoring grids, gynecologic procedure notes and labor records built as structured fields rather than free text, so trends are visible at a glance and data can be reported later without manual chart review.
Learn moreEmbryology and andrology records for oocytes, sperm, embryos and frozen specimens, with labels, storage locations, witnessed handling steps and a full audit trail. Results from external and in-house labs flow in through HL7 or FHIR interfaces, linked to the right cycle.
Partners, donors and gestational carriers each get their own record, linked to the patient and the cycle with clear permissions. Screening results, consents and identity rules stay with the right person and are not exposed in the wrong chart.
Versioned consent forms for treatments, embryo disposition and procedures, and birth plans that patients complete in a portal. Each signed version is stored with a timestamp and surfaced to clinicians at the moment it matters.

Learn moreCustom vs. off-the-shelf
Established OB/GYN and fertility products cover the common workflows well, and for many practices they are the right choice. Custom software makes sense when your protocols, lab processes, packages or multi-site setup do not fit a vendor's model, or when you need a module that connects to the system you already run.
Off-the-Shelf
Standard pregnancy and cycle views that work well for typical schedules and common protocols.
Custom-Built with Woltrio
Timelines, flowsheets and scheduling rules shaped to your own protocols and visit patterns.
Off-the-Shelf
Built-in or partner lab modules with a fixed set of witness and storage steps.
Custom-Built with Woltrio
Specimen tracking that matches your lab's steps, labels, devices and storage layout.
Off-the-Shelf
Common package and payment-plan options, configurable within the vendor's limits.
Custom-Built with Woltrio
Package, deposit and financing logic modeled on how you actually price and bill care.
Off-the-Shelf
Usually faster to start, with setup, training and data migration handled by the vendor.
Custom-Built with Woltrio
Longer to build, delivered in phases so the first module is in use before the rest.
If an existing product fits, we will tell you; if it does not, we will scope what custom work would cost.
Reproductive and pregnancy data needs tight access control, clean interfaces and reliable reporting.
Software designed with HIPAA safeguards: role-based access, field-level restrictions for sensitive reproductive data, encryption and complete audit logs. Woltrio is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified, and we sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with healthcare clients before PHI is shared.
We start from your clinical workflow and the dates it runs on, then build only what an existing product cannot give you.
We map how a pregnancy, cycle or birth moves through your practice: who charts what, when, and on which device. Requirements come from those sessions with your clinicians, lab staff and billing team, not from a generic feature list.
We split the work into modules that can go live on their own, such as a prenatal flowsheet or a lab tracking tool. Your team uses each one in real conditions before we build the next, so feedback shapes the rest.
Access rules, audit trails and data retention are designed at the start, not added at the end. We document how the system supports HIPAA compliance and your reporting duties, and we review regulatory requirements with you before building them.
